Karamell Choco Ltd.

In 2013, we purchased and renovated an industrial site in Gyomaendrőd, covering more than 6,500 m², including a 1,200 m² production hall.
The choice of this industrial site was no coincidence, as the facility located there has been home to serious, tradition-forming confectionery manufacturing activities since 1971, under the management of several different owners. For a period of time, Ropi and Zizi products were manufactured here, after which the facility was converted to focus on the production of wafers and chocolate bar products.

In the first phase of our operation, we acquired several brands that are traditional in Hungary, such as ZIZI-TOP – puffed rice coated with mixed fruit-flavored sugar – as well as the well-known and popular DIABETTE brand, offering candies, wafers, chocolates, and Christmas candies that can also be consumed by people with diabetes.

Over the past 10 years, we have modernized our production hall and established new technological lines. On these lines, we are able to produce oven-baked dry goods, wafer products, chocolate bars and tablets, chocolate-coated bar products, and Christmas candies. We have also installed a traditional hot-coating technology, which enables us to coat puffed and extruded products with flavored sugar glazing. The essence of this technology is that during the process, the coating develops a crackled, textured surface.
When shaping our product portfolio, an important strategic goal was that, alongside serving consumers who enjoy our traditional sugar-containing product families – MINIcat ZIZI-TOP, Karamell ZIZI, IGAZIZ-ZI – we also place strong emphasis on meeting the needs of health-conscious customers. As a result, over the past 10 years, the range of products marketed under the Diabette brand has undergone the most significant changes.
In 2017, due to EU regulations, we were required to discontinue the use of the term “diabetic” and related brand and product names. Accordingly, we renamed our products DIBETTE, and today consumers can find our products on store shelves under this brand name.
Among our DIBETTE products, our wafers became GLUTEN-FREE in 2022, meaning they can now be enjoyed not only by those sensitive to sugar, but also by people with gluten intolerance. We place strong emphasis on our NO Sugar Added wafers, as these products meet the needs not only of people suffering from deficiency-related conditions, but also of health-conscious consumers.
Regarding the production of our DIBETTE chocolates, we can say that thanks to our unique recipes, we are able to produce chocolate ourselves from cocoa raw materials, doing so while employing Hungarian labor. Within the chocolate product family—whether bars, tablets, or Christmas candies—our NO Sugar Added product lines are among the most popular. The year 2022 was also an important development milestone, as lactose-free products were introduced within the No Sugar Added range.
Our goal remains continuous innovative product and technology development, as well as market expansion in the field of functional sweets.
In Hungary, our products are available in the international retail chains Auchan, Spar, DM, Müller, and Metro, as well as in Hungarian networks such as CBA, Reál, Eco Family, Plus Market, and through our independent wholesale partners.
In export markets, our products are available in Romania through Auchan, Kaufland, and Selgros, and in Slovakia through the Jednota/Coop retail networks.
